Relaxed performances are intended to be low-barrier theatre experiences designed for anyone who might benefit from a more casual audience environment, including patrons with sensory and/or processing disabilities, those who identify as Neurodivergent, people with disabilities, parents with small children, or anyone who may want extra support attending.
What to expect:
- The sounds and lights at a relaxed performance may be slightly modified to be less startling or more subdued.
- The house lights are kept on at a low level throughout the performance.
- Everyone is free to move in and out of their seats and the theatre.
- Standing areas are available in the theatre, and seats will be spaced to ensure easy movement.
- A quiet space is set aside outside of the theatre in the lobby or gallery for those who need it during the performance. This space will have stimming toys and calming activities available.
- You are welcome to bring your own stimming toy or activity to do while in the theatre.
- Patrons are asked to avoid using fragrances and other scented products.
A relaxed performance has a laid-back approach to noise and movement within the theatre space and during the performance, which may be a good introductory experience for new theatregoers.
