Co-presented with Chan Centre in collaboration with Indian Summer Festival

Hailed by The Wall Street Journal as “among modern music’s most compelling vocalists,” ganavya is a boundary-defying artist whose voice and vision transcend genre. For her Vancouver debut at the Chan Centre, she performs music from Nilam—a luminous new work that coalesces lullaby, poetry, and prayer into powerful, poignant music.

Through improvisation, storytelling, and sacred sound, ganavya’s music offers a space of deep listening, healing, and belonging. We invite you to enter her world for an evening of profound artistry and spiritual connection.

ganavya

Born in New York and raised in Tamil Nadu, ganavya, whose name means “one who was born to spread music,” grew up immersed in a culture of community and devotional practice. Her last album, Daughter of a Temple, featured 30 collaborators, including Esperanza Spalding and Vijay Iyer. It was named one of the Top 10 Global Albums of 2024 by The Guardian, who also called her “one to watch” with a voice that could “turn stoics into sobbing wrecks.”
